West Branch Penobscot River

The West Branch Penbobscot River, a tributary of the Penobscot River, drains spruce forests of the southern part of the Maine North Woods. In the 19th century, the river was used to send logs downstream to Bangor and to the paper mill in Millinocket. It is a prime spot for fly fishing and white water rafting along the Golden Road.
